Prof. Anna Drogosz received her doctorate from the Department of English, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin, and is currently employed at the University of Warmia and Mazury, Olsztyn, Poland. Author of two monographs and thirty papers, she specializes in Cognitive Linguistics.
Her main academic interests center around the function of figurative language in scientific discourse, with focus on the impact of conceptual metaphors on reasoning about scientific concepts. Anna is a member of the Polish Cognitive Linguistics Association. To share with other scholars the ideas about evolution, language, and communication, she initiated a Communication and Evolution Research Group.
In her popular undergraduate talks, she lets her students in on the secrets of the meaning and plot construction in science-fiction and fantasy film — combining her passion for academia with meeting new people and public speaking.
